Partenope is a woman named after her city. In Greek myth, Parthenope is the mermaid who committed suicide after failing to cast a spell on Odysseus. Her body was brought by the wave to the place where the Castel dell’Ovo is now built, and for this she gave the name to the city that would later become Neapolis, Naples.

This creates a sense of artificiality that can be distracting and annoying

So I declare: a new Diva is born, a timeless, forever young star. Apart from Celeste, the film seems to be looking for only the best shots and poetic quotes. The narrative is loose and the plot is virtually non-existent as the film cares more about pursuing aesthetics than building a coherent story.

It’s an artistic choice that some may love and others may hate. I love Celeste dalla Porta in this movie and I am beyond happy.
