Jagna is a young woman determined to make her own way in a late 19th-century Polish village – a hotbed of ongoing gossip and bickering, held together by rich and poor by adherence to colorful traditions and deep-rooted patriarchy .. The movie is made up of 40,000 pictures and they used 6 pictures per 1 second of footage.

The paint job took 1350 liters/300 gallons of paint

Wow… I didn’t expect this movie to be as incredible as it was!

But this movie (based on the Nobel Prize nominated book) was a great experience

As a Pole brought up in England, I haven’t touched base with much Polish literature. Not only is it beautifully made and animated, but the story was extremely tragic and real.

I would recommend this movie to everyone, Polish or not

All the characters are well developed, the plot is engaging and the music is just perfect. It is not only an insight and commentary on Poland’s past, but also on masculinity, femininity, class and community.10/10.
