My first review!

I read the Hughes trilogy years ago and enjoyed the books immensely. When I randomly browsed IMDB and found THE SILO, I was immediately intrigued. I see some mixed opinions and I can relate to some of them, here’s my take on the first season. First, I love dystopian literature! The dystopian genre offers a unique psychological perspective on human nature in hypothetical scenarios.

It is not an adaptation in the sense that it follows a story

My fondness for the trilogy was solidified because Hughes managed to develop Orwell’s ideas within a hypothesis relevant to the modern world. Depicting the development of the human psyche in dystopian scenarios is a challenging task. I think Hughes did a great job, SILO captures most of these aspects in a refreshing way. It is based on the books, but naturally it has to adapt to viewers in a fast-paced world. Still, the series manages to capture the atmosphere of a society living in a silo.

Of course, the audience must like it

The acting is phenomenal for the main characters. Unlike the shallow story in other series, «SILO» has a wonderful combination of character development and atmospheric focus. The only problem I have with the series is the lack of atmospheric development. They spend a lot of screen time chasing and catching Juliet. They lack the atmospheric development of the silo as a society.
